7 ideas on how to use a wooden tray made out of old wood

A wooden tray made out of old wood is a wonderful multifunctional decorative element that can be used in many ways. Ana and Eva, members of Belinka’s group of ambassadors, who create under the Wood & Blonde brand, advise you on how to enhance your interior with this wooden accessory.

Ana and Eva made a tray from an old oak board, leaving its edge unfinished. They cut the board to a length of 90 cm, sanded it to smoothness and removed impurities. They used handles from an old, worn-out cabinet to make the tray handles, but you can of course choose more modern ones. You can find even more ideas on how to create a multifunctional wooden tray from old wood in this article.

Ana and Eva oiled the cleaned and dried surface with Belinka Oil Food Contact, which provides colourless impregnation and is designed for the protection of wooden surfaces in contact with food. Made from natural ingredients, the oil is safe for both human health and the environment. They left the first coat to dry for 24 hours, sanded the wooden surface with a 220-grit sanding sponge, then applied the second coat of oil. After 15 minutes, Ana and Eva wiped the residue with a cotton cloth, which they soaked in water after use, as otherwise spontaneous combustion could occur.

Once the oil is completely dry, the tray can be used. You can find some nice suggestions in the photos below:

If you decide to place the tray in the bathroom, follow the instructions outlined in this article, as the wood that will be in contact with moisture should be protected with the water-borne Interier stain.
