Small garden for succulents made from scrap wood

We present a simple outdoor decorative piece – a small garden for succulents made from scrap wood. Ana and Eva, members of Belinka’s group of ambassadors, who create under the Wood & Blonde brand, guide you through the process of making it.

To make a small garden for succulents from scrap wood, you will need:

  • a piece of dry branch or a trunk with a hollow,
  • a tool for scraping bark,
  • sandpaper,
  • succulents and soil,
  • a paintbrush and the Lasur thin-layer woodstain in any shade.

The method of making a small garden for succulents made from scrap wood

A piece that can be used for decoration can often be found while preparing firewood or pruning old trees. To make a small garden for succulents, we suggest a trunk with a hollow into which you will be able to plant the succulents. After choosing a suitable piece of wood, store it in a shady, dry place until it dries.

Then manually remove the bark using a suitable tool, after which you should sand and dust the surface well. If necessary, you can deepen the hollow and straighten the lower part of the trunk to give it more stability.

After you have thoroughly dusted the wood, protect it with the Lasur thin-layer woodstain in the desired shade. Use a paintbrush to apply the coat in a thin layer, leaving the texture of the wood visible, and the final appearance of the surface slightly matte. Lasur will protect the wood from UV rays and weather effects. For the best possible protection of the wood, apply it at least two or three times, remembering that each coat can be applied after 24 hours, or when the previous coat is completely dry.

Once the coating is completely dry, pour some soil into the hollow and slightly press the succulents into it, as they quickly take root and grow.

This simple decorative piece will brighten up your outdoor tables, fences, small gardens or rock gardens.
