Advent candle holder made from scrap wood Wood radiates warmth and a feeling of domesticity, much like the holiday decorations you create yourself. To make this year’s decorations even more special, we asked Ana and Eva, members of Belinka’s ambassadors, who create under the Wood & Blonde brand, for advice on how to create a simple, yet beautiful advent candle holder from scrap wood. To create an advent candle holder from scrap wood, you will need: a wooden disc, sandpaper, planer, drill, candles, aluminium bases for the candles, decorations and Belinka Oil Interier. The method of making an advent candle holder from scrap wood Use a sawed off disc from a log of any wood species. Ana and Eva used oak. Plane it so that its surface is flat, then sand it by hand or with the help of an eccentric sander with 60 to 320 grit sandpaper. Use a drill to make 4 openings for candles with a diameter of 2.5 cm. Before the final coating, clean and dust the surface well. To oil the wooden disc use the colourless Belinka Oil Interier, which creates a thin film on the surface, offers quality protection and a pleasantly smooth surface. After 15 minutes wipe the oil residue with a cotton cloth, which must be soaked in water after use, as it may otherwise spontaneously combust. Use aluminium bases for the candles, to protect the contact area between the candle and the wood. Use any candles you like: tall or tealights, depending on what you want the candle holder to look like. You can add more details to it, like dried flowers, greenery, decorative ribbons or New Year decorations, changing your holiday decorative piece as you go.
